The Stooges were a band formed by Iggy Pop, Ron Asheton, Scott Asheton, and Dave Alexander in 1967. The group hailed out of unlikely Ann Arbor, Michigan but quickly became infamous for their stage antics and early avant-garde sound. The group was considered to be an earlier proto-punk influence in the scene and developed an edgier sound as time went on. In their earlier years, the group struggled with drug and substance abuse and consequently had an on-again-off-again run with their active years, but managed to release five studio albums together.
