The Ramones found themselves at the peak of their careers in 1980 but faced a harsh transitional period where the band lost sight of their punk roots. The original drummer, Tommy Ramone quit the band. They were featured in a significant movie, “Rock N’ Roll High School” and had just released their fifth album, “End of a Century.” Their popularity was skyrocketing, but critics and old fans were uninterested in the band's less edgy, pop-friendly approach to rock entering the new decade.
