Obituary is a death metal band that formed in Florida in 1984. They are viewed as essential in the development of death metal music and are one of the most successful death metal bands of all time. Their music has heavily groove-based riffs and drumming along with growling vocals, which create their unique brand of death metal. Initially called "Executioner," the band changed its name to "Xecutioner" in 1986 and then changed its name once again to "Obituary" in 1988. The last tour they embarked on was in 2017 as part of the massive European "Slayer's farewell tour", also featuring Lamb of God and Anthrax.
