"The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste" is an album by the band Ministry that was released in 1989. The record took a more hardcore and aggressively guitar-driven direction than their earlier albums. But like most of Ministry's work, the lyrics still deal with political corruption, cultural violence, environmental degradation, nuclear war, drug addiction, and insanity. The album's production was said to be "complete chaos and mayhem" since instead of writing the music, they all improvised individually and rarely collaborated with each other. 

Ministry is a metal band from Chicago that formed in 1981. They are seen as one of the pioneers of industrial metal and have released an array of albums. The band has had multiple scandals and publicity from their singer and producer's drug addiction.
