A year after the tragic death of the famous musician, John Lennon, a plot of land in Central Park was dedicated to him. Instead of creating a statue in his honor, his widow Yoko Ono insisted it become a space for people to enjoy. So they reconstructed the landscape with thousands of plants, shrubs, and trees. The park was gifted many items from various countries to be dedicated as a centerpiece. Yoko Ono ended up selecting a beautiful Italian mosaic with the word Imagine, a title of one of his most famous songs, at the center of a starburst pattern. To date, every year on his birthday the mosaic is covered in flowers to honor his memory.
