Iron Maiden’s fourth studio album, “Piece of Mind,” released one of the best Iron Maiden songs ever written, “The Trooper.” Even if it just did that, it would be a beloved classic by many but the release built upon the momentum they built with “The Number of the Beast” and kept it full steam ahead. Their goal this time around was British invasion 2.0. They had yet to break into the charts States-side and were earning a reputation as a devil-worshipping band. In response, they added a backward voice recording to the track “Still Life” to jab at the critics. And they finally met their goal, breaking into the US radio charts with their song “Flight of Icarus,” introducing many Americans to the band.
