Celebrity Skin saw Hole make a significant change in their sound, taking a more mainstream, alternative rock approach compared with their earlier grunge-influenced style. The album was their biggest to date, going platinum by the end of the year and spawning the hit title track. It was the last album Hole would release before they disbanded in 2002.
