Opus Eponymous (Latin for "self-titled work") is the debut album by the Swedish rock band Ghost. The lyrics to the popular song "Stand by Him" were originally in Swedish. The Japanese release contains an additional bonus track: a cover of the Beatles' "Here Comes the Sun".
Ghost is a one-of-a-kind band known for their incredible theatrics and costumes. They have prominent religious undertones and satanic lyrics. All of the band members, or the "Nameless Ghouls", are completely anonymous and hidden by demon masks. The lead singer, Papa Emeritus, wears a full-face prosthetic painted as a skull to keep his identity hidden. Papa dresses up as a "demonic anti-pope" for performances, where their theatre skills and arena rock sound really shine.
