Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist who started painting after a tragic accident when she was only 18. Art seemed to help her through her suffering and many surgeries over the years. She became known for her self-portraits. In her portraits you see her fighting with her mental health and physical pain. This pop art is inspired by a self-portrait she created with tears coming down her face. Kahlo died in her early 40s due to her ongoing medical issues and did not truly gain fame and recognition until years after her death.
