"A Blaze in the Northern Sky" is the second album released by Darkthrone in 1992. It was the first album to start what fans called the "Unholy Trinity" after the release of the following two records. It is considered a classic within the extreme metal genre.
Darkthrone is a Norwegian extreme metal band that was formed in 1991 after their previous band Black Death disbanded. Their first three albums are still considered their best and are seen as the peak of the band's career. Under the influence of artist "Euronymous" of Mayhem, Darkthrone adopted the aesthetic and style that would come to represent the black metal scene, wearing corpse paint and working under alter egos. They still record and play music today, their last album "Eternal Hails" being released in 2021.
