Claude Monet is a widely celebrated French painter who lived between the years 1840 and 1926. Monet is regarded as the father of the impressionist art movement, a unique style of composing a piece out of various small brushstrokes rather than solid lines or shapes to portray light and shadow effects. Impressionism would go on to be considered a precursor to our own popular modern art techniques. Best known for his paintings of the French countryside and other landscapes, Monet covered a variety of subjects with his work including architecture and portraits.
