Cattle Decapitation first got their start in San Diego, California in the mid-1990s. They are a deathgrind/death metal band with themes and lyrics focused on mankind's cruel treatment to the environment and animals, with most of their work aiming to shift the perspective of that abuse to the forefront of the audience's mind- with the hopes of enraging them to the injustice as well. The band's first studio album was released in 2002, and over 20 years later they have released their eight full-length album in 2023.
