1979 was the year of the "Survival" tour for Marley and The Wailers. It was their second-to-last tour before Bob Marley's death. It started in Boston and ended in Libreville, Gabon.
Bob Marley is easily one of the most famous Jamaican singers and musicians of all time. He served as a world ambassador for reggae music and sold over 20 million records throughout his career. Before going solo he was in a band called the Wailing Wailers which formed in 1963 and also pumped out many hit songs. They spent many years touring around the world in a cloud of smoke. Marley was, and still is known after his death, as a huge cannabis advocate.
