Attack of the Killer Tomatoes was released in 1978 as a spoof of all the B movies that were coming out at the time. The name of the film and the plot are pretty much one and the same, a bunch of tomatoes become sentient and start attacking and killing people. The film pokes fun at just about everything that was happening in the 70s, with the opening credits noting that people thought the premise for The Birds was unbelievable, but a few years later there was an attack by birds, and poke fun at Jaws by having a tomato attack a swimmer.
